Celestial coordinates. Any system of coordinates that can be used to describe the position of an object on the celestial sphere. Different types of coordinates are used for different applications in astronomy. Those commonly used are equatorial coordinates, horizontal coordinates, ecliptic coordinates and galactic coordinates.
